Postage Time

Today I felt like posting some lovliness,

maybe because I wanted to avoid cleaning.

Here is the latest bump update photo along with one of me trying to get my phone away from my husband because he keeps taking photos while teasingly photo prompting me. It was funny. We were both laughing. Probably one of my more genuine smiles during a weekly bump photo. He took like 10 photos instead of 1-3. Stinker. I still like him.

              

A small example of food I crave these days. It's mostly lots of healthy produce like fruits, veggies, and salad-y things, but then I'm also always down for a burger, fries, corndogs and naughty foods like that. I'm usually down for any sweet treat as well, but I don't always turn straight to chocolate like I have in the past. It's usually ice cream with fruit mixed in.  It's funny though, I don't feel like I'm eating a ton more than I normally do (btw, the photo on the right is of mine and Britt's lunch at Sammy's),  although sometimes it's hard to tell if I've eaten enough or if I've eaten too much because I feel like my stomach is a little squished these days. I just try to take it slow, take breaks and come back later for more if I need to. My sweet little guys is taking up all the space in my torso these days, good thing I think he's pretty awesome. :)

Oh, and I ALWAYS want ice. LOTS of ice. Not because I'm anemic, my blood was tested recently, but because I just LOVE ICE these days. 

  

Here is a photo of the aforementioned Sammy's, I Instagrammed a photo of mine and Britt's lunch date. Isn't he cute? But yeah, Sammy's is tasty! Britt says it was one of the best burgers he's ever had, and they have tasty pie and cupcake shakes! YUM! We didn't get one. Next time.

So this last weekend we were in St. George because my awesome sisters and mom threw me a baby shower, and while I was there Britt spent the day with his bestie B.Y. and his little brother. I guess on his way to and from activities he found this super cool/beautiful/unique to St. George house. No folks, not adobe or stucco or brick or stone, it's a craftsman style with wood siding... Mmmmm. Ok, there is some brick. It's funny because it stands out like a sore thumb in St. George because it seems like everyone building there is hooked on the square mediterranean style these days. But we LOVE this house and may or may not have driven by more than once and taken photos... SO pretty.

Another fun thing that my pregnant self is inclined to these days is needing to use the restroom what seems like every half hour. So driving home was a TREAT!! So since we had to stop (again) anyway, we decided to get ice cream at DQ and Britt took a photo of me in the giant Beaver rocking chair... doesn't look so giant with a pregnant Abbie in it... hmmm.

The photo on the right was taken shortly after unpacking the car at home. We feel SO loved and blessed. We got some fabulous gifts from so many sweet ladies! Thank you so MUCH!!

The Goings On

I don't believe our actions of late or what I'm about to post will be regarded with disapproval, I just like the way the phrase sounds.

-Baby Boy is growing all the time! I think it's funny how some days my belly looks bigger than other days, it must just depend on how much he is snuggling that day.

-I thought it would be fun to take a photo from this angle one day, and I had to stick my bum out awkwardly to get a view of my toes. Yep, I can't see them when I am standing and look down.

-Took the dreaded glucose test, and it turns out that I stressed more than I really needed to, it just tasted like flat orange soda. I was most stressed that I wouldn't get there on time for the blood draw and I'd have to do it all over again. Also that I would have to take the 3 hr test if I didn't pass. No worries! I passed. Everything looks normal, AND I'm not anemic, I just like to chew on ice. haha!

-Britt and I spent actual Valentine's Day apart because I was stayed in St. George for a longer visit, so he surprised me by sending some PV Trilogy singers to me for a singing Valentine. Cute, huh? My favorite part was when they all started giggling at the end because we all felt a bit awkward... but in a fun way. They all had lovely voices and that's Britt's brother Wayne on the right. Also pictured are some of the lovely starbursts I ate. YUM!

-When we got back together we used a nifty gift card and went out to eat and spent the day together since it was Martin Luther King Jr. Day! It was awesome and I didn't have to wait for him to get home from school or anything.

-Speaking of food, I can never seem to get enough of yummy homemade salads and fresh produce these days. Britt doesn't understand because he doesn't love as many fruits and veggies as I do, but that's ok... more salad for me!

-We've been doing lots of projects and crafty things to get ready for Baby Boy. We sewed a super cute quilt together for him. It was a LOT of piecing! So when I got sick of it Britt took over. He is the master measurer and cutter and maybe even the master sewer these days. After he put the blocks and strips together, I sewed all the yellow borders to the strips and sewed it all together. Britt says he can't match as well as I can, but I think he just says that to be nice to his pregnant wife.

 

-Also sewed some bumper pads, and a crib skirt (not pictured), not sure if we'll be using the bumper pads because they warn against them... either way, they turned out cute and I'm proud of them. Also the Boppy pillow is just chillin' in there. It won't reside there after Baby Boy is born.

-We rearranged our room as well so we could fit this very cute mini crib  (that has been in our family for 54ish years. My great uncle Bill made this when my mom was born and it's still in amazing shape) next to our bed for the first few months while we wake up every few hours during the night. So handy! Thanks Grandma Cokey for letting us use it! We thought we were clever and made a mini crib skirt out of leftover fabric. We're a little ridiculous.

-Britt and I love to find cheap furniture/decorative items at D.I. or on KSL and paint them and give them an upgrade! We've only done a few projects, but we were excited to apply this hobby to decorate our nursery/baby room! And Britt is very mathematically artistic (referring to his methods) and painted these very fun and sweet Calvin and Hobbes pictures for nursery. Also the photo on the left is a little sketch of an idea for a wall "B" is for our current favorite name. It might change... we'll fill you in when we have a named baby. :)

-Some other painting projects: shelf, table and changing table/dresser. Britt made the shelf from a design he found on http://ana-white.com/, a cool home improvement blog. The table from Ikea is one we bought used at Savor's for $6 and painted for fun before, but we didn't like how it turned out so we decided it would be fun to repaint, and actually Britt painted again recently so now the gray stripes are navy blue like the frame above the dresser. The dresser is probably my favorite, we found it on KSL for $60 and it had a natural wood stain, complete with a removable mirror. It was in awesome shape with only a few highlighter pen marks on the top, but since we knew we were going to paint it, we didn't care. We looked FOREVER for a dresser/changing table online and at stores and they were all so expensive! So happy with how this one turned out! Plus the changing pad cover is one we sewed ourselves! We found a great pattern on Pinterest. Score.

-Britt and I scored this sweet rocking chair/glider at DownEast Outfitters for $75 dollars after using a giftcard from our wedding, but it had no cushion on it, and it has an ugly black grate thingy on the seat portion, SO we needed a cushion. I looked for months online to find cushion options, but there was almost nothing that would work, and the options we had were much more expensive than we were comfortable with. We thought we were going to have to make a cover and stuff pillows in it. One fateful spring day at Target, we found these lovely outdoor furniture cushions in just the colors we wanted and for a pretty good deal. Whew!! What a relief.

-Other than baby projects we've been doing the usual hanging out together and enjoying just the two of us, even though we can't wait for our new little guy. My parents came up and took us to a BYU game that they scored court-side tickets to, and we got some super fly $5 sunglasses from Walmart to get ready for summertime!

 

-Lately I want all the little baby boy clothes I see, which is troubling since nowadays I receive all sorts of baby/maternity magazines/ads these days. Also I'm SUPER excited about this adorable monkey bouncy chair Grandma Tammy bought for our little guy! Thanks Grandma Tammy!

-This little beauty on the left was a $2 steal at D.I., Britt and I spent that afternoon rockin' out to "UTAH, The Musical Spectacular." So classy. The photo on the right was the vacuum I may or may not have abandoned for a few days after sucking up a rather large scary black spider in the corner.

 So that's a big little snippet of what we've been up to since my last post.

Nesting Craze

Today I have been super motivated to clean.

Which is good because I forget that I have around 10ish more weeks left

before I get distracted by a tiny and super cute creature.

Super excited. 

I did the dishes/cleaned the kitchen,

we rearranged our bedroom to make room for the little baby bed

organized the little guy's room some more

rearranged some furniture

vacuumed a bunch everywhere

got out the sewing machine to finish baby projects

laundered some clothes

and started pre-washing baby stuff.

LOVELY.

Next I need to:

vacuum a few more places

clean the bathroom

mop the kitchen and bathroom

continue pre-washing baby clothes

get Britt to put the finish on our baby dresser/changing table

paint some frames, a little table and shelf for the baby room (project with Britt)

dust some places

sew crib bumpers, crib skirt and baby quilts

organize baby clothes n' stuff

organize baby room closet more

finish buying baby essentials

pack hospital bag

wash car inside and out

put car seat/stroller in the car/trunk

possibly recover rocking chair cover when it comes

and probably a bunch of other stuff...

I hope this craze keeps on for a while longer.

While I was sick, we received an outpouring of love and support from so many people and I know a blog post doesn't really cut it, but I just want to say :

THANK YOU!!!

I so appreciate all the prayers and positive thoughts, words of encouragement and sweet acts of service given in mine and my husband's behalf. I don't know if I would've survived on my own. I wish I could embrace each one of you. There were many small miracles and tender mercies and unseen, but definitely felt, heavenly help and earthly support given during those hard times. Thank you for not giving up on me. Britt and I feel so blessed to have such wonderful family and friends. 

Maybe that was cheesy. But I don't care.
